SensorRope for Civil & GeoTechnical Industries
Embedded SensorRope
SensorRope is a unique Structural Health Monitoring system to automatically assess the conditions that lead to potential in-service failure of earthen infrastructure. SensorRope provides real-time diagnostics and automatically alerts the customer if a dangerous condition occurs or is predicted to occur.
SensorRope is a semi-flexible, semi-rigid instrument that can be installed vertically or horizontally in both new and preexisting earthen structures. SensorRope has sensors installed at intervals along its length allowing for a discrete assessment of the structure’s health. SensorRope continuously monitors the conditions of the structure and transmits the collected data to the Sensor Head, located at the top of the rope, above the surface of the structure. The Sensor Head aggregates the data collected along the length of the SensorRope and sends out an early failure warning signal should the structural conditions be deemed dangerous. Using multiple SensorRopes along the length of a structure allows for a wireless Distributed Monitoring System, which provides increased accuracy of inspection of a long structure, such as a levee.
SensorRope Benefits Include:
- Enhances reliability of critical civil & geotechnical structures;
- Installation in new and pre-existing structures, vertically or horizontally;
- Provides simultaneous assessment of the multiple conditions that lead to potential in-service failure, including slope stability, moisture, and temperature;
- Provides an Early Failure Warning System;
- Provides widespread monitoring of large structures via a wireless Distributed Monitoring System;
- Encasement in rigid or semi-flexible housing;
- Fully customizable to meet customers needs;
- Sensors are placed at discrete and customizable intervals along the length of the rope;
- SensorRope length can range from 2-50+ feet;
- SensorRope diameter can be reduced to 1 inch;
- Provides real-time diagnostics and reporting.
